Clue4Tex – CADTrainingTextile recently conducted a virtual five-day (7th September 2026 to 11th September 2026) professional training programme on Weaving CAD Software for Fashion & Textile students of J.D. Birla Institute, Kolkata. The programme was designed to provide students with practical exposure to digital textile designing, weaving technologies and CAD-based Jacquard and Dobby design development.

From Textile Design Concepts to Digital Weaving

The training introduced students to the fundamental concepts of textile designing and weaving, followed by hands-on learning using textile CAD software.

Students explored various CAD functionalities and learned how traditional artwork and design concepts can be transformed into digital textile designs. They practiced digitizing their own artifacts, modifying design elements and converting them into workable formats suitable for Jacquard weaving.

The practical approach allowed students to understand not only the design creation process but also the technical relationship between a digital design and its final woven structure.

Understanding Loom Parameters Through CAD

One of the important aspects of the training was helping students understand the relationship between loom settings, fabric construction and digital textile design.

Students practiced modifying loom-related parameters and observed their impact through fabric simulation and visualization. This helped them understand how factors such as design dimensions, density and other loom parameters influence the final fabric structure.

The students also learned how to generate weaving files from CAD software, providing them with a better understanding of the transition from digital design to practical Jacquard weaving.

Learning Through a Parallel Digital Platform

A major advantage of the programme was the use of a parallel working approach. Instead of only watching software demonstrations, students worked simultaneously on their own computers while the trainer demonstrated different CAD functions.

This approach enabled students to:

· Follow software demonstrations in real time

· Practice each function immediately

· Digitize their own textile designs

· Experiment with different weave structures and parameters

· Simulate and visualize their designs

· Identify and correct design-related issues

· Develop greater confidence in using textile CAD tools

This interactive method created a more engaging learning environment and helped bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.

Connecting CAD Training with the Academic Curriculum

The training programme was aligned with the existing course curriculum of J.D. Birla Institute, allowing students to connect their classroom learning with practical digital tools and modern textile technology.

The programme covered a broad range of topics, including:

· Basics of textiles and weaving

· Historical background of weaving technologies

· Loom functions and mechanisms

· Textile design fundamentals

· Design development and digitization

· Understanding loom parameters

· Dobby weaving and design development

· Jacquard weaving and design development

· Jacquard harnessing concepts

· Draft and lifting plans

· Weave structures and fabric construction

· CAD-based design development

· Fabric simulation

· Digital fabric visualization

· Rendering on 3D structures

· Generation of workable weaving files

Breaking the Barriers of Distance

Technology has significantly changed the way professional education and skill development can be delivered. Distance is no longer necessarily a barrier between trainers and learners.

Digital lectures and practical online workshops can provide students and educational institutions with access to specialized knowledge that may otherwise be difficult to obtain because of geographical distance, availability of experts or the higher cost of conducting physical training programmes.

Through online CAD training, students can learn directly from domain experts while working on their own computers. Institutes can therefore provide specialized technical training without necessarily requiring trainers to be physically present on campus.

Making Professional Textile Technology Accessible

The Cule4Tex–CADTrainingTextile training programme at J.D. Birla Institute demonstrated how a digital, interactive, and practical training model can be effectively used to deliver specialized textile education.

Rather than limiting the programme to presentations and lectures, students were provided with a working environment where they could learn, practice, experiment and develop their own designs simultaneously.

This approach can be particularly valuable for textile and fashion institutes that want to introduce students to specialized technologies such as:

Textile CAD → Dobby & Jacquard Design → Weave Development → Simulation → 3D Visualization → Production-Ready Digital Files

Building Industry-Ready Textile Design Skills

Modern textile education increasingly requires a combination of design creativity, textile knowledge and digital technology skills.

Training programmes such as this provide students with practical exposure to the complete digital textile design workflow. By understanding both the creative and technical aspects of textile design, students can develop skills that are relevant to academic projects as well as future professional opportunities in textile design, weaving, CAD, Jacquard production and digital textile development.

About Clue4Tex – CADTrainingTextile

Clue4Tex – CADTrainingTextile provides professional training and technical support in Textile CAD, Dobby & Jacquard Design, Weaving CAD, Fabric Simulation, 3D Textile Visualization and digital textile design development.

Our objective is to bridge the gap between textile education, traditional weaving knowledge and modern digital technologies by providing practical, technology-driven learning opportunities to students, educational institutions and textile professionals.

The successful completion of the five-day training at J.D. Birla Institute, Kolkata is another step towards making specialized textile CAD education more accessible through digital learning and interactive practical workshops.

Distance should no longer be a barrier to learning technology. With the right digital platform, expert guidance and hands-on practice, specialized textile technology can reach learners anywhere.
